Hola! 👋
I´m Georgina, I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the glamorous 80´s. 😉
My passion for languages started at an early age when I started to study English as a subject in elementary school. In secondary school, I continued to study English through private tuition, as well as French and Latin at school. While the rest of my class hated Latin classes, I loved translating original texts by Julius Caesar and other Roman people. I guess I have always been a language nerd…
I always had, in addition to languages, a strong interest in cultures and society, which led me to the decision to study sociology at university. Since I was a teenager, I have made many friendships with people from different countries around the world, and languages played an important role in facilitating these relationships. Having a degree in sociology and having lived in several Spanish-speaking countries, gave me a broad understanding of the varieties of Spanish and the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.
I got certified as a teacher of Spanish as a foreign language in the communicative method, by the well known International House. For ten years I acquired extensive experience as an English and Spanish teacher. I taught at schools, in companies, language institutes, and privately. I worked in Buenos Aires, Bogotá (Colombia), Santiago (Chile) and the UK. I also worked as an academic coordinator in a language institute in Buenos Aires and as a language facilitator in a university in England.
My dream for Buena Onda is to share the beautiful Spanish language and its cultures with people from all over the world. ❤️
In my spare time, I like to listen to music (mainly rock and “anything with a lot of guitars”). I also enjoy practicing yoga, art and I love nature and the outdoors.
Oh! And I study Welsh because it reminds me of the language of the elves in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings! 🤓
